4 Knitted Items

4 knitted items for Alice's Embrace, photo in Diane's yard and posted to FB. FedEx caused me unnecessary stress but saying my package was "en route" for over a week. Luckily the box had been delivered!

March donation

A soft cuddly lap blanket sent off to Alice's Embrace. Only one donation this month because I'm knitting myself a blanket with this lovely colorful yarn.

First blanket of 2021 mailed

The first blanket of the new year has been mailed to Elk Grove, California, the home of Alice's Embrace. I donated 6 items to this organization last year. My goal is 6 this year. I received gift cards to Joann's, where I purchase yarn ... enough for several projects. This remains my creative outlet.

The last batch has been mailed

The last of my 2020 knitting for charity has been mailed. I've knit 6 (blankets and prayer shawls) for Alice's Embrace, 8 scarves for Handmade Especially for You, and 13 scarves for Operation Gratitude.

Knitting for Charity

I love to knit. I started knitting a couple of years ago and cannot stop. Mostly scarves and blankets. Last year I began to knit for charity.

Operation Gratitude donates packages to deployed military. They like to include a hand made item with each package. Last year I donated 9 scarves for holiday packages. This year I participated in the RED Scarf Challenge. Remembering Everyone Deployed. I donated these:

I'm now donating to this organization: Alice's Embrace. Alice's Embrace is a non-profit organization devoted to providing hand-knit and hand-crocheted prayer shawls and lap blankets to those suffering from Alzheimer's disease. I've just finished the first two projects:

The above is a prayer shawl. Below is a lap blanket.

Both are washed and ready to be mailed.

These projects feed my creativity as each is a different pattern. And as I usually have two projects going at the same time, a scarf and a blanket/shawl, it is also a mental workout. Makes me happy!
