The month of hearts is done -- the final touches have been put on the heart quilt, named "Unlock My Heart". I'm really pleased with the way it looks. It's amazing how many hours one can put into making these art quilts. How would one ever price it for sale? Not that I would want to sell this one -- it is to go over our bed. In California, it's safest not to have a framed picture -- this quilt will be perfect. (Can't wait to get new bedding to match :-).
Details: Commercial, batiks, and hand dyed cottons, lace, netting, plastic netting (the stuff they wrap veggies in). Each heart shape is quilted with 2 layers of batting and attached to the quilt top with either hand or machine stitching. The middle heart is attached only in the middle and hand stitching and beading on that one represents a butterfly. Beads, buttons and machine and hand stitching were used as embellishments, as well as the old key. The key is pointing towards the butterfly to represent setting love free so it can return if it's meant to be. 18" x 17.5"

A charming piece. I like how you carried the bright blue throughout the piece. The buttons are placed in interesting places besides the centers of your hearts. Also, the pieced background of lots of colors is appealing. The sentiment is wonderful.
