Inspired by Sonji and Deb

One of the first blogs I read was Sonji Hunt's. Fascinated by her ability to capture her day in a humorous way, I became "hooked", looking forward to her daily posts. I encountered her posting on bundles and was inspired to create one myself (in addition to purchasing one of hers.) Using commercial fabrics, I created a "Bundle of Fun", a collage with fusing and raw edge applique stitching, embellished with machine stitching, fiber hand stitching, and sequins.

The bundle is small scraps of the fabrics used in the piece, rolled and turned, and attached with fibers.

This art quilt is called "Bundle of Joy", and was a gift to my daughter and son-in-law for their 4th anniversary. The "couple" is holding a bundle to represent my beautiful granddaughter, Sydney. For this quilt, I used commercial fabrics, paper, sequins and fibers.

This piece was inspired by both Sonji Hunt and
Deb Lacativa's gestures. I found them so charming and fun that I had to try it.

Reading blogs has been the most inspiration, sort of like going on an "Artist's Date" (Julia Cameron). Not only do I gain ideas, but so many artists provide details on how they construct their work ... so very generous of them. As I'm learning, uploading images and writing the blog is very time-consuming, time that is taken away from doing the art. But I want to be a part of this sharing of ideas, so, at least for now, I'm willing to take the time to get my work uploaded onto this blog. BTW, I miss Sonji's regular postings!

What a compliment. Thanks, Jan. Your pieces are a lot of fun. Very vibrant color and pattern. I'm glad that something I did was inspirational to you. Thank you.
